Powertech Generators install essential 450kVA back-up power set-up

Customer Requirements

John from Freshcold came to us on behalf of Staplehurst Transits, who are a leading chilled distribution company based in Kent. The brief was to supply a cost effective solution for urgently required essential power back-up for the site operations and chilled warehouses.

The first stage

John found our generator on our used generator page right here on our website, he was looking for a highly reliable and tested unit that would not let them down. The generator we had was a 450kVA Scania with a bespoke super silent enclosure and only 10 hours work. He needed a highly trained team to integrate the unit in to the exisitng set-up of a mains supply and a seperate feed in PV (solar panel) system and we were happy to offer our services as well as the top spec used generator.

The planning

Our technical team visited the Staplehurst Transits site in Kent to asses the best course for the install. It would require the generator to be installed descretely at the back of the building and running cables across a 70m span through the roof space down to the switch room.

We had to overcome the complicated set-up of the PV system. This had to be automatically deactivated upon a mains failure to stop the PV trying to feed the generator supply. We used our wealth of knowledge to set-up multiple switches and an ATS to completely and seamlessly manage the power transfer in the event of any mains failure.

The result

Staplehurst Transits now has a superb back-up power solution for their site and the essential refrigeration units for their warehousing. The top spec used generator was ideal for this setting and offered considerable savings giving a real cost effective solution. The wealth of knowledge from our technical team provided a solution to every hurdle in the set-up leaving a neat, tidy, fully automated and integrated system that seamlessly manages the power to the site.

Ensuring the correct set-up for the site is essential for seamless back-up power.
